About Tamara Von Arx
Designer Tamara Von Arx was born on Lake Zurich to Swiss ancestry and grew up in Switzerland.
She loved to be surrounded by the typical cliché Switzerland – lots of nature and clean mountain air. When she was 12 years old, she made her own individual clothes. In 1994, she was invited to present her own fashion collection under her name which was quickly picked up by a local journalist leading her to get interviewed for newspapers and evoked interest from early clients. From 1992–1996, she completed her Undergraduate at Bally Schuhfabriken in Schönenwerd/Switzerland with a specialisation in the Art of Shoe Design and Shoe Manufacturing. Upon her graduation with Honors, she worked for Bally Management as a Shoe Designer from 1996–2000. After a total of 8 years with Bally, she moved to Milan/Italy in order to pursue her Postgraduate at Istituto Marangoni. After graduating with Distinction, she worked in Italy for world-renowned fashion houses such as Prada, Chanel and Marc Jacobs.
In 2005, she moved to London/UK where she collaborated on collections for High End companies such as Stella McCartney, Salvatore Ferragamo & Marc Jacobs; and also freelanced for other brands. She also enjoyed working as a Sessional Lecturer at Istituto Marangoni London/UK sharing her experience and knowledge with the Bachelors & Masters degree students. She has also worked since then as a Design Lecturer for young designers and start-ups in UK and India; and presented Design & Accessories workshops in Switzerland, UK and The Netherlands.
